The Independent Media Station (Al Mamlaka TV) was established under a special regulation on July 10, 2015, as the foundation of an independent public media organization providing a public service. At that time, a Royal Decree was issued appointing Fahd Al-Khitan as the non-executive Chairman of Al Mamlaka’s Board of Directors.
In October 2021, a Royal Decree was issued appointing H.E. Mr. Ali Hamdan Abdulqader Al-Ayed as the non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Independent Public Media Station (Al Mamlaka TV) for a period of three years.
On May 28, 2024, a Royal Decree was issued appointing Mr. Fahd Saleh Salameh Al-Khitan as the non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Independent Public Media Station for a period of three years, effective from the date he assumed his duties.
The channel is headquartered at the King Hussein Business Park in Amman, equipped with state-of-the-art studios and news production technologies. The channel’s satellite and digital broadcasting officially launched on Monday, July 16, 2018, beginning with its main news bulletin at 7:00 PM Jordan time.
Al Mamlaka TV broadcasts in both SD and HD formats via Arabsat on frequency 12054 Vertical, and Nilesat on frequencies 11958 Horizontal and 12034 Vertical. It is also available on the OSN network on channel 454, in addition to comprehensive coverage through Al Mamlaka’s website, social media platforms, and mobile services to ensure rapid news delivery.
Al Mamlaka TV maintains a network of correspondents in major decision-making capitals around the world and in several Arab countries, including Baghdad, Syria, the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem, and Egypt. It also operates fully equipped offices in Karak, Irbid, Mafraq, Ma’an, and Aqaba.
The concept of public media service is embodied in independent public media that is free from government interference and private economic interests, reflecting the public interest. It is a media service owned by the public sector, funded through the state budget, and representative of all segments of society. It is media that guarantees pluralism and participation, reflects the interests of all citizens, and addresses them without exception, exclusion, or marginalization.
While Al Mamlaka is committed to the principles of public media service, it seeks to present a new Jordanian model for public media based on the following core principles:
Independence in broadcasting information and news: Informing society about domestic and international developments, safeguarding the public’s right to knowledge, and enabling citizens to enhance their understanding of public affairs.
Freedom of public debate: Providing a platform for public discussion that ensures diversity of opinions according to the principles of pluralism and participation, while encouraging greater citizen involvement in political, economic, and cultural life.
Oversight and representation of public opinion: Serving as a tool to monitor the performance of public institutions and oversee the implementation of laws in the public interest.
Education and entertainment: Contributing to the development of society’s collective consciousness and expressing its culture.
